Clear Spring Library
Summary
The Clear Spring Library consisted of a new 8,000-GSF Public Library with 4,600 square feet of library space, 190 square feet of circulation area, 300 square feet private workroom, and 850 square feet of public meeting area with kitchenette. An outdoor reading area and memorial garden was also designed with the option for future expansion.
Description
This Library was designed as a branch library under the county library system for Washington County, Maryland. The new facility is open to the public and will be available to several public schools on the same site.
The open plan of the library space was designed for flexibility with laying out the book stack areas. The space was allotted for 1,000 square feet of adult stacks with a 1,200 square foot adult reading area, 600 square feet of children’s stacks with a 600 square foot children’s reading area, and also includes a 320 square foot computer and reference center.
