The new Maugansville Elementary School is an 87,160 gross square foot base plan which was bid with a 3,370 gross square foot alternate for the gymnasium expansion and a 2,112 gross square storage addition resulting in a 92,642 square foot facility.

Description

The project involved designing the new facility with site amenities and playing fields on property adjacent to the existing 38,161-sf school.  Upon completion of construction in the summer of 2008, the existing school will be demolished as part of the construction project.

The new two-story facility will feature a steel frame construction with masonry cavity exterior walls, masonry interior partitions, a sloped standing seam metal roof and terrazzo corridors.

Mechanical systems are dual fired (oil/gas) 4-pipe system which provides both heating and cooling by use of variable air volume controls.

The food service has been designed as a satellite facility serving meals prepared at the middle school.

The electrical system is a 480 3-phase 2500-amp service supported by a 275-KW emergency generator.
